Support Systems were asked to produce, design, and provide structural calculations for nineteen large external riser frames which were to contain pipework, electrical and ducting for a new Biotech Engineering Facility at the University of Cambridge. Working closely with Shepherd Engineering Services, we were able to complete the project working to to tight deadlines set and provide support after delivery regarding installation due to our high detailed CAD modelling.

 

Adjustability and ease of installation was achieved by combining our steelwork with concrete embedded HALFEN channel - installation ran smoothly as a result. Despite the framework being ultimately being covered in cladding, it was required that the framework was Hot Dipped Galvanized in finish to deal with the exposure to moisture.
